ever had one of those fragmented memories from childhood that seem so good... then as an adult you just go --- huh?
i have a memory of a movie that i sneaked to watch as a child, i only ever saw bits and pieces - but those fragments left me so full of interest and intrigue.
i recently came across that movie as an adult. what a disappointment.
i have now seen the movie from begining to end (w/o commercial interruption or censorship). what was the draw as a child? the story barely existed, the acting was stale and stiff, the effects and intense scenes were sad for what was supposed to be a serious story.
was it simply a case of something i was not allowed to watch that inspired the intrigue? probably.
has 'maturity' diminished my intrigue? i don't think so - not in this case. this movie is just really bad and it can't even funny because it is so bad.
on another yet related note, if you ever saw a movie at a drive-in theatre - do not watch that movie at home. the awe of the drive-in cannot be replicated.
... stay out of trouble
